Common Roblox Scam Messages & How to Avoid Them
Real examples of the scam DMs and messages Roblox traders face in 2026 — and exactly what to do instead. Don't get played.
Why Roblox Scams Are Getting Smarter
In 2026, Roblox trading scams have evolved. Scammers use polished DMs, fake urgency, and social engineering that feels personal. They prey on hope — that dream Dominus, that cheap SSHF — and they're good at it. The best defense? Knowing exactly what these messages look like and why they're dangerous. Here are the most common scam messages we see at RBX Nova, and how to stay safe.
1. The "Too Good to Be True" DM
Red Flag
Dominus items are worth thousands of dollars. Nobody quits Roblox and gives them away for $50. This message exists to create FOMO and rush you before you think.
Safe Response
Block and move on. Check market prices on Rolimons before buying any limited. If it's a fraction of real value, it's a scam.
2. The Fake Middleman Trick
Red Flag
Real middlemen come from verified trading communities — never from the other party. If they suggest their "friend," that friend is almost always their alt. Your money goes in, you never get the item.
Safe Response
Only use middlemen from established servers with public MM lists and years of history. At RBX Nova, we do direct trades with 500+ vouches — no middleman needed when both sides are verified.
3. The Phishing Link Scam
Red Flag
Scammers use lookalike domains: r0blox (zero instead of o), roblox.com-something, or typos. One click and you enter your login on a fake site — account gone.
Safe Response
Always check the URL before clicking. Real Roblox links are exactly roblox.com or www.roblox.com. Hover over links to see the real destination. Enable 2FA on your Roblox account.
4. The "Friends & Family" Pressure
Red Flag
Friends & Family has zero buyer protection. Legit sellers accept Goods & Services because it protects both sides. Anyone who refuses G&S is either scamming or doesn't want you to dispute if they don't deliver.
Safe Response
Never pay F&F to someone you don't know. The ~3% G&S fee is worth full dispute rights. If they won't take G&S, walk away. At RBX Nova we accept PayPal G&S on every trade.
5. The Fake Screenshot Proof
Red Flag
Anyone can edit a screenshot. Vouches need to be verifiable — real vouches live in a server's #vouches channel or public posts where you can check the account, date, and context.
Safe Response
Verify vouches in the original server or platform. Check vouch account ages and activity — real vouchers have history. At RBX Nova, vouches are public in our Discord and traceable.
6. The "Overpay" Bait
Red Flag
Nobody overpays for the privilege of going second. This is bait to get you to send first. Once you do, they ghost. Overpay offers = scam signal almost every time.
Safe Response
In any trade, lower vouch goes first or use a verified middleman. If someone offers insane overpay to go first, they're trying to flip the script — don't fall for it.
7. How to Protect Yourself
Here's your checklist — memorize it.
- ✅ Use PayPal Goods & Services — never F&F with new sellers
- ✅ Verify URLs before clicking — real Roblox is roblox.com only
- ✅ Check Rolimons for real prices — if it's way under market, it's fake
- ✅ Verify vouches in the original server — don't trust screenshots
- ✅ Never use a middleman the other party suggests
- ✅ Start small with new traders — build trust over time
- ❌ Don't trust "too good to be true" DMs
- ❌ Don't pay F&F to strangers
- ❌ Don't go first for "overpay" offers
